PlumbersSydney SEO
A burst pipe at 6am or a cold shower in July, and nobody shops around. They ring the first plumber Google Maps shows them. We work to make that your business, across the Western Sydney suburbs you want your vans in.
01Sound familiar?
Most plumbers who reach out to us spot their own business in at least one of these four.
Someone with an overflowing toilet finds your website, can't spot a phone number up top or any sign you do drains, and goes straight back to the map.
Shared leads from quote sites, a premium directory upgrade, an agency on a twelve-month contract. The invoices turned up every month. The hot water installs never did.
Same dripping tap logo, same "no job too small", same photo of a white ute. Nothing tells a homeowner you're the plumber who actually turns up when you said you would.
After the last callout, the invoices and the parts run, sorting out Google is the furthest thing from your mind.
None of this is bad luck. Every one of these has a cause we can find, and the free review shows which ones are quietly draining your phone.

Someone standing in water wants a number in seconds. Someone pricing a new hot water system wants to compare. Google answers those two differently, so your setup has to cover both.
Example searches. The timings show the usual pattern, not a measurement.
Emergencies are won on the map. With water coming through the ceiling, people tap the first plumber in the map pack who looks close, open and well reviewed. Distance, your primary category, your listed hours and your reviews decide who gets that tap.
Planned jobs are won on your website. Hot water replacements, gas appliance installs and bathroom rough-ins get researched first. People read the page for that exact job, look for brands and rough prices, check your licence, and only then pick up the phone.
Need the phone ringing this week while rankings build? Google Ads for plumbers can cover the urgent searches in the meantime, and SEO takes over more of the load as your map position climbs.
03Google Business Profile
Your primary category tells Google what you are, and for nearly every plumbing business that's Plumber. Secondary categories should match real, regular work: drainage if you own a jetter and a drain camera, gas installation if you hold a gas fitting licence.
Then we complete the rest of the profile: service areas, hours you'll genuinely answer, your licence number in the description, before and after photos from real jobs, and a full list of services written the way customers search. It's the heart of our local SEO work. If you'd like the long version, we wrote up how to rank higher on Google Maps.
A supply store category is for shops selling parts, not plumbers doing jobs. Bathroom remodeler only stays if you run whole renovations yourself, not just the rough-in and fit-off.
Each one is another job Google can match your profile to. We gather what the leading plumbers near you list, you cross off anything you don't do, and we write a plain description for the rest.
04Service pages
A single "Services" page with eight dot points can't rank for eight different searches. Your website needs a page for every job you want more of, written so a homeowner can decide from that page alone.
/blocked-drains/Tree roots, wet wipes, collapsed clay pipes. What you clear, how you clear it, and when relining beats digging up the yard.
/hot-water/Gas, electric, heat pump and solar. The brands you fit, the tank sizes you carry, and how quickly you can swap out a dead unit.
/emergency-plumber/Your real after-hours window, any callout fee, and a phone number big enough to tap with a wet thumb.
/gas-fitting/Cooktops, heaters, gas leaks and compliance certificates, with your gas fitting licence shown clearly on the page.
/leak-detection/A shock water bill, damp walls, a leak under the slab. Explain the gear you use to find it without ripping up the tiles.
/drain-camera-inspection/What the footage shows, when buyers or builders ask for one, and whether the report comes with the video.
/bathroom-renovations/Rough-in and fit-off, how you work alongside tilers and builders, and photos of finished bathrooms you've plumbed.
/strata-commercial/Response times, after-hours access, backflow testing and the job reports property managers expect to receive.
Example page addresses. We match them to the jobs that pay best for you, not to a fixed list.

05Suburb coverage
For urgent jobs, Google leans hard on distance. A Blacktown plumber won't rank in Cronulla just by listing it. What works is winning the suburbs around your base properly, then reaching further with planned work.
Where you can realistically own the map pack for emergencies. Set as service areas, and where most of your job photos and reviews should come from.
Within reach on the map with a strong profile. Your website backs it up with short write-ups of real jobs done in these suburbs.
Usually too far for emergency searches. Worth chasing through service pages for planned work like hot water swaps and bathroom rough-ins.
We don't build fifty copy-paste suburb pages with the name swapped. Google sees straight through them. A short write-up of a real job, like a gas hot water swap in Kellyville or a relined sewer in St Marys, proves you work there. Based further west? Our page on SEO in Penrith covers that patch in detail.
06Reviews
Reviews feed your map ranking, and they're what people read at 11pm standing in a flooded laundry. Recent ones carry the most weight, so a steady flow beats one big push a year.
We set you up with a review link and a short message to send from the van once the job's signed off. Reply to every review, good or bad, in a sentence or two.
Never offer a discount for a review, never buy them, and don't screen out unhappy customers before they reach Google. All three break Google's rules and can cost you the profile.
Same number of reviews. The steady pattern looks like a busy, active plumber, to Google and to the person reading.
07Fake listings
Plumbing is a favourite target for lead sellers: made-up businesses that rank, take the call and sell it on to whoever pays. They push genuine plumbers out of the top three. Here's how to tell them apart.
When a listing clearly breaks Google's guidelines, we report it with screenshots and evidence through Google's redressal complaint form. Before we do, we look the business up on the NSW Government licence check. We only report listings we're confident about, because reporting genuine competitors is unfair and weakens the reports that matter.
08From trades like yours
These aren't plumbing businesses. They're Sydney trade and service businesses that needed what you need: to turn up when locals search, and turn that into calls.

11FAQ
The things plumbers ask us most before we start.
It's the work that gets a plumbing business found on Google by people nearby: your Google Business Profile, where you sit in the map pack, a website page for each job you do, your reviews and your listings on other directories. The aim is to show up for searches like "blocked drain Blacktown" or "emergency plumber near me" when the person searching is close enough for you to get there.
Both, for different jobs. Emergency searches like burst pipes and blocked toilets mostly end in a call straight from the map pack. Planned work like hot water replacements, gas installs and bathroom renovations gets researched on websites first. A plumbing business needs the map for urgent jobs and strong service pages for the bigger ones.
"Plumber" as the primary category, for almost everyone. Add secondary categories like "Drainage service" or "Gas installation service" only when that work is a regular part of your week. Categories that don't match what you really do can weaken how well you rank for the main one.
Yes, within reason. If you work from home or out of a van, hide your address and set the suburbs you cover as service areas. For emergency searches Google still favours plumbers close to the person searching, so you'll rank strongest near your base. Further out, service pages and real job write-ups bring in the planned work.
Yes, for the jobs you want more of. Each page can answer one search properly: what you do, how you do it, the brands or equipment involved, rough pricing and photos from real jobs. One general services page can't rank for all of them at once.
Profile fixes often show movement within a few weeks. Breaking into the top three for busy searches in suburbs like Parramatta or Castle Hill usually takes a few months, depending on how established the plumbers around you are.
It depends on how many suburbs and services you want to rank for, and how competitive your patch is. The free 3-minute video review shows where you stand now, and if you want us to do the work, we quote from there. Rather talk it through first? Get in touch.
Report them to Google, but only when you're sure. Warning signs include keyword-stuffed names, addresses that turn out to be virtual offices or empty lots, no licence number anywhere, and a pile of reviews that all arrived in one month. We gather the evidence and lodge reports through Google's redressal complaint form.
If you need calls straight away, ads fill the gap while your rankings build. Once you're showing well in the map pack, many plumbers trim their ad spend back to the most profitable searches. Our page on Google Ads for plumbers explains how we run them.
Barely anything. You just do what you do best: Turn phone calls into customers.
