STC Tank Cleaners: from no website to 180+ Google clicks.

I built STC's website from scratch and worked on its local SEO. Within three months, it had 182 clicks from Google search. Its Google Business Profile ranked first across most locations checked for “septic tank services” in the 9 October 2026 scan. It also sits in the top 3 for almost all the other keywords related to its niche.

What I built, and what happened next

  • STC Tank Cleaners had no website. I built one around its services, service area and the questions customers ask before calling.
  • I worked on the website and Google Business Profile together, so both clearly explained what STC does and where it works.
  • Within three months, the website had 182 organic search clicks and 23,000 impressions.
  • The 9 October 2026 scan for “septic tank services” showed first place across most checked locations. STC also ranks in the top 3 for almost all its other niche keywords.

Where I started: a tank cleaning business with no website

STC Tank Cleaners is based in Berkshire Park and works across Sydney. When I started, it didn't have a website.

So the first job was to build somewhere a customer could find the service they needed, check whether STC covered their area and get in touch. The SEO needed to be part of that build from the start.

I worked backwards from the enquiry. If someone needed their septic tank cleaned, what would they search for? What would they need to know when they landed on the page? And how quickly could they call?

Decide what the website needs to be found for

“Tank cleaning” covers several different jobs. A homeowner looking for a septic tank pump-out and a business needing an emergency grease trap clean aren't looking for the same information.

I organised the site around those differences. Septic tank cleaning, sewer pit cleaning, stormwater drains, grease traps and AWTS cleaning each needed a clear place on the website.

The location mattered as well. STC needed to be found by people in the areas it actually services. That meant explaining the coverage alongside the work, rather than leaving someone to wonder whether the business would travel to them.

How I built and ranked STC's website

1. Give the homepage a clear job

I made septic tank cleaning the main focus of the homepage. The heading tells someone what STC does and where it works. The service overview then helps them find the right page for their system.

I also made the phone number easy to find. For this kind of business, a customer may need to explain the tank, the access or an urgent problem. They should be able to start that conversation without hunting around the site.

You can see the STC website for yourself. It's the same thinking behind my web design work: make the service clear and make the next step easy.

2. Build a page for each service

I gave the services their own pages. That lets each page answer the questions for that particular job and gives it a specific search intent to work towards.

For example, a septic tank cleaning page needs to explain the pump-out service and help someone decide whether to call. An AWTS page needs to speak to someone who already knows they have that type of system. Putting both into one short homepage paragraph wouldn't do either job properly.

I carried the service through the page title, main heading and copy, then used supporting headings to make the details easy to scan. The point was to make each page clearly about one service, with enough useful information to help someone take the next step.

3. Connect the services to the areas STC covers

I built out the service area information so customers could check whether STC worked near them. Berkshire Park is the base, but the business serves surrounding parts of Sydney too.

The service pages explain the job. The area pages explain the coverage. I connected them with relevant internal links so someone could move between the two without having to start again from the homepage.

That also gives the site a useful structure. A page about a service links to the places it's available, and a page about an area points people towards the services they can book.

4. Make the Google Business Profile support the website

I worked on the profile alongside the site. The business details, service information and categories needed to describe the same business a customer would find when they clicked through.

I focused on making the services clear and keeping the information consistent. The website gives someone room to read about the work. The profile gives them a quick way to find the business locally and make contact.

I wanted both to lead a customer to the same answer: STC does this job, covers this area and is easy to contact.

5. Answer the questions that come before an enquiry

I built the content around the things someone needs to know before calling: the services available, the systems STC works on, its coverage and what to expect next.

Short answers and clear headings help someone who's comparing businesses on their phone. They also make the subject of each page easier to understand. I don't want a visitor to read three paragraphs just to work out whether they've found the right service.

Those details matter because a ranking only gets someone to the page. The page still has to help them decide to get in touch.

What that work produced in three months

From no website, STC reached 182 organic search clicks within three months. The site also recorded 23,000 search impressions.

For me, the useful part is that the website was now being found. STC had pages people could discover, read and click through to when looking for a service.

Check the rankings across the area

I checked local visibility across the area with a ranking scan. Looking from one location only tells you what someone searching from that point sees. A grid shows how the business appears from multiple locations.

The scan on 9 October 2026 was for “septic tank services”. STC ranked first at most checked locations, with second place at the remaining visible points.

STC also ranks in the top 3 for almost all the other keywords related to its niche. The scan above shows one of those searches. The wider rankings mean the business can be found through more than one way of asking for the work it does.

How the pieces work together

The website build, the on-page SEO and the profile work all supported the same goal: help the right customer find STC and understand what to do next.

  • The homepage introduces the business. It makes the main service and location clear.
  • Service pages go into the detail. Each job has a page that answers the questions specific to it.
  • Area pages explain the coverage. Customers can check whether STC works near them.
  • Internal links connect the information. Someone can move from their area to the service they need.
  • The profile supports local visibility. It gives people another way to find and contact the same business.

That gave STC a foundation it could keep building on. The business now has a website bringing in search traffic, first-place visibility across most of the scanned area for “septic tank services”, and top-three rankings across almost all its other niche keywords.

Where I'd start with your business

If you don't have a website, I'd start by working out which services you want more enquiries for and building around them. If you already have one, I'd look at whether those services have useful pages, whether your coverage is clear and whether it's easy to contact you.

That's also how I approached Design Timber Flooring. Its website now shows 123 search clicks and 26 submitted quote forms over three months. The work starts with the business and the jobs it wants more of.
