Pink slips
In NSW, many light vehicles over five years old need a safety inspection before rego renewal. Say you're an authorised station, how long it takes and whether people can wait.

Logbook services, brakes, pink slips and the repair nobody saw coming. When someone nearby searches for a mechanic, we make sure your workshop is one of the first three they see, with the reviews and hours that get the car booked in.
01Auto repair SEO
Nobody searches "mechanic" and books whoever comes up. They search the job, the car and the suburb. Good SEO for auto repair shops makes sure your workshop matches all three.
Example. A normal Tuesday in a Western Sydney workshop, and the Google search behind each booking.
List every service you actually do. Google allows up to 99 services on a Business Profile. Most workshops list five. We pull what the top mechanics near you list, you cross off what you don't do, and we describe your top 20. Each is another job Google can match you to.
Use the words customers type. You say "major service". They type "logbook service" or "car service near me". You say regas. They type "car air con not cold". Your profile and pages should match them.
Then give the big earners their own page. Logbook servicing, brakes, clutches, timing belts and diagnostics each deserve a page: what's included, how long it takes, price ranges if you're comfortable, and workshop photos.
02Local SEO for mechanics
Your primary category on Google is one of the strongest signals for the map. For workshops there are a few close options: "Auto repair shop", "Mechanic" and "Car repair and maintenance service". They sound alike, but they don't always rank the same for the same search.
There's no single right answer. We check which primary category the mechanics in the top three around you use for the searches you care about, and match the strongest. Google renames categories from time to time, so we check the live list.
Secondary categories should only cover real parts of your work, such as "Brake shop", "Tyre shop", "Auto air conditioning service" or "Vehicle inspection service" if you're an authorised inspection station. A short, honest list beats ten categories you can't back up with services, pages and reviews.
Add real opening hours, including Saturdays, and a booking link straight to your booking form. People often search on a Friday night for Saturday. Show as closed and you lose them. More in our guide to ranking higher on Google Maps.
Example. Every workshop gets checked against its own competitors before anything changes.
03Make-specific searches
A Ranger owner searches "Ford Ranger service". A Golf owner searches "European car mechanic". If you know those cars, your website should say so in the words they use.
Pages for the makes you know best. If half your work is Toyotas and Ford utes, a page for each, with photos from your bays, can rank for "Toyota service Penrith" searches the dealer usually owns. European, 4WD, hybrid and EV work deserve pages too, if you have the tools and training.
Say you service and repair a make, not that you're an authorised dealer unless you are, and don't use manufacturer logos as your own.
Answer the warranty question. Many new car owners go back to the dealer because they fear an independent service voids the warranty. The ACCC's general guidance is that you don't have to use the dealer to keep a new car warranty, as long as the service follows the manufacturer's schedule and specifications and uses suitable parts.
A clear "logbook servicing won't void your warranty" page, linking to the ACCC's guidance and showing you stamp the logbook, wins searches and removes the main objection. Customers should still check their own warranty terms. This is general information, not legal advice.
04Pink slips and blue slips
Inspection searches spike whenever rego reminders land. For a NSW authorised inspection station, they're some of the easiest bookings to win, and they often turn into repairs.

05Workshop or mobile mechanic
Car mechanic marketing in Sydney looks different depending on whether customers drive to you or you drive to them. Google treats the two very differently.
Your address shows on Google and the map ranks you from that spot, so your pin, signage photos and hours matter. Suburb pages and reviews that mention nearby suburbs help you reach further.
You set a service area and hide your home address. You lean harder on service pages, suburb pages and reviews that name the suburbs you work in. Be clear about what you can do on site.
The closest workshop doesn't always win the search. The one Google understands and trusts most usually does.
06Mechanic SEO for your website
People hand you one of the most expensive things they own, so make trust easy to find: your NSW Fair Trading motor vehicle repairer licence number, MTA NSW membership if you're a member, the warranty you give on parts and labour, and real photos of your team and workshop.
Then the basics Google reads: a title tag and main heading naming your trade and suburb, and your name, address and phone matching your Google profile exactly on every page. AutoRepair schema, a Google map on your contact page, and a page for each service, make and suburb you want to win. Type site: and your web address into Google. Under 30 pages usually means Google has very little to rank. If the site itself is the problem, we also do website design for small businesses.
Ask for reviews when the car's handed back, and mention the job. A review that says "timing belt on my Golf, done same day" helps you rank for both. Reply to every one, and never pay for reviews. Then the listings: Apple, Bing, Yelp, Foursquare, True Local, booking sites such as AutoGuru, and the directories ranking for "mechanic near me" in your suburb. Same details everywhere.
Example. Each page answers one search properly and links to the rest.
07The plan
The same order every time, so nothing gets skipped. It also helps fleet managers and regulars, who search you by name and need to find you fast.
Where you rank for your main jobs across your area, your reviews next to the top 10, and a check for fake or duplicate listings in your way.
Category, every service with descriptions, hours, booking link, photos of the workshop and team, and service areas if you're mobile.
Titles, headings, matching details, schema and a map. Then service, make, warranty, inspection and suburb pages, all linked.
Listings, weekly posts, geotagged workshop photos, a steady review routine and reports on fake competitors. Then we keep going.

FAQ
What workshop owners ask us before getting started.
SEO for mechanics is the work that gets your workshop found on Google when people nearby search for a mechanic, a service or a repair. It covers your Google Business Profile, your Google Maps ranking, your website pages, reviews and listings, so you show up for searches like "mechanic near me", "logbook service Penrith" or "brake repairs Blacktown".
Get into the Google Maps top three for the jobs you want, then win the comparison: the right category, every service listed, Saturday hours, a booking link, steady reviews, and a page for each main service, make and suburb.
Both exist, along with "Car repair and maintenance service". The best primary category depends on what the workshops already ranking in your area use for the searches you care about. We check that first, then add secondary categories like "Brake shop" or "Vehicle inspection service" only where they match real work you do.
According to the ACCC's general guidance, you don't have to get a new car serviced at the dealer to keep the manufacturer's warranty, as long as the service follows the manufacturer's specifications and uses suitable parts. Owners should check their own warranty terms. This is general information, not legal advice, and it's a great topic for a page on your website.
Yes. A workshop shows its address and ranks from that spot. A mobile mechanic sets a service area and hides their home address, so they rely more on service pages, suburb pages and reviews that mention the suburbs they work in.
It depends on how many suburbs and services you want to rank for and how strong the workshops around you are. The free 3-minute video review shows where you rank today and what's missing. If you want us to fix it, we'll quote from there. We don't publish set prices.
Profile fixes can show movement within weeks. The top three for busy searches like "mechanic near me" across a wider area usually takes a few months, depending on your suburb and competition.
If you're a NSW authorised inspection station, yes. Pink slip and blue slip searches are frequent, local and urgent, and they often lead to repair work. Explain who needs which slip, how long it takes and whether customers can wait, and link to the current Transport for NSW guidance.
A lot. Reviews help you rank and they're how people decide who to trust with their car. Ask every happy customer, reply to every review, and never pay for reviews.
Yes. Your NSW Fair Trading repairer licence number, MTA NSW membership if you're a member, and the warranty you give on parts and labour are trust signals people look for before handing over their keys. Only claim memberships and accreditations you actually hold.
