Builder SEO Sydney | Local SEO for builders and renovators.

01Sound familiar?

Homes built to last. A website nobody finds.

When builders tell us why they called, it's usually one of these four. Sometimes all of them.

  1. No enquiries

They admire the gallery, then leave.

Someone planning an extension flicks through your photos and closes the tab. There's no page about their kind of project, so nothing gives them a reason to call.

  2. No results

Lead sites sell the same job five times.

You pay for a renovation lead, and four other builders get it too. The client picks whoever quotes lowest, and the next month's invoice still arrives.

  3. No difference

Your site reads like a display home brochure.

Renders, a "building your dream home" banner and a phone number. Nothing about the houses you've actually handed over, where they are or how a job runs.

  4. No time

Sites, trades and council come first.

Between inspections, deliveries and variations, writing up last month's handover keeps sliding to the bottom of the list.

Clients spend months comparing builders, and most of that happens on Google. Our free review shows what they find when they look you up.

02The long research cycle

Dozens of searches. One builder.

A knockdown rebuild or a second storey is the biggest spend most families make after buying the house. Nobody picks a builder off one search. They run dozens, spread over a season or longer.

  4. Month 2[your company] projectsProject pages with real photos
  5. Month 3[your company] licenceA licence number that checks out
  6. Month 4[your company] contactAn enquiry about their block

Ads catch someone at the moment they click. SEO is what they find on every search after that: your reviews, your past projects, your licence, your name. If you already run Google Ads for your building company, these pages make every paid click work harder, because the visitor who comes back three weeks later finds something worth reading.

Most builder websites only answer the first search on that list. We build for all of them, so by the time a couple sits down at the kitchen table to choose, your company has come up again and again, with the proof they were looking for.

03Project and portfolio pages

Every handover earns its own page.

A gallery of forty photos on one page ranks for nothing. Split the same work up by project type and suburb, and each finished job starts pulling in its own searches.

Every project page uses real photos from the job, not renders or stock: the slab going in, the frame, the finished kitchen. It names the suburb, the scope, the build time and the kind of block, because that's exactly what the next client wants to compare against their own.

Each one links up to its service page (granny flats, second storey additions, knockdown rebuilds) and across to its suburb page, so Google can see what you build and where. If your current site can't hold that structure, our web design for trades can build it.

04Google Business Profile for builders

Pick one category. Prove it with photos.

Your profile is often the first thing a homeowner sees after searching your name. The category tells Google what you are. The photos tell the client whether you're any good.

Or "Builder" if renovations and extensions are most of your work.

  • Custom home builderif you design and build one-offs

  • Custom homes
  • Second storey additions
  • Home extensions
  • Granny flats
  • Home renovations
  • Bathroom renovations
  • Kitchen renovations
  • Alterations and additions
  • Duplexes
  • Decks and pergolas

Choose a primary category for the work you want most, then only add extras that are genuinely part of the business. A long list of loosely related categories spreads your profile thin. Services, a plain description, your service areas and your licence number in the description all get filled in properly.

For builders, project photos do more than anything else on the profile to win the click. Upload them by stage as each job moves along, with a caption naming the suburb and project type. Our local SEO service handles the profile, listings and reviews, and our guide on how to rank higher on Google Maps explains the ranking side in more detail.

05Trust signals

Proof they can check in under a minute.

Before anyone lets a builder take the roof off their house, they check up on them. Google weighs many of the same signals, so we put them where both will find them.

The same details your site sign shows should be on your website and your Google profile.

  1. 1

    Your NSW builder licence number

In the footer of every page, in your profile description and on each quote. Homeowners can look it up on the Service NSW licence check, and plenty of them do.

  2. 2

    HIA or Master Builders membership

If you're a member, say so and link to your listing in their builder directory. If you're not, leave it off. Never borrow a badge you haven't earned.

  3. 3

    Insurance, explained plainly

Home Building Compensation cover on residential jobs over $20,000, plus public liability. A short paragraph on your process page answers a question every careful client asks.

  4. 4

    Reviews that name the project

"Our second storey addition in Kellyville" tells the next client and Google far more than "great job". We give you a simple way to ask for reviews like that at handover.

  5. 5

Real people, not just a logo

Who runs your sites, who answers the phone and how long you've been building. A name and a face on the about page goes a long way when the contract is worth six figures.

General information, not legal advice. Licensing, advertising and insurance rules change, so check the current requirements with NSW Fair Trading or the Building Commission NSW.

06Serious enquiries

Let the website have the awkward chat.

Tyre-kickers don't read cost guides. Serious clients do. Honest pages about budget, land and timing rank for research searches and quietly turn away people who were never going to build.

We write these with you, using your own price bands and the questions that come up at every first site meeting. A family that has read your guide to block suitability calls with their survey in hand, not to ask if you do "cheap extensions".

Guides like these also pick up the long, specific searches people type early in their research, which are the ones big builders' brochure sites rarely answer. The pages that bring the best enquiries get more links from the rest of your site over time.

07Project builders vs custom builders

Same street. Different buyer.

A couple buying house and land in a new estate searches nothing like someone after a one-off home on a sloping block in Glenhaven. Your pages have to match the buyer you want.

Project builders

Buyers compare designs, inclusions and price. They search by estate and suburb, often while they're still choosing the land.

  • house and land Oran Park
  • 4 bedroom home designs Marsden Park
  • first home builder Box Hill

Pages that win: one per design and per estate, with floor plans, inclusions and photos of homes already built nearby.

Custom builders and renovators

Buyers compare the builder: your past work, who runs the site and how you handle a tricky block or an old house.

  • custom home builder Hills District
  • second storey addition Baulkham Hills
  • builder for sloping block Glenhaven

Pages that win: detailed project write-ups, a clear build process and a proper story about who you are.

08Suburb coverage

From Penrith to the Hills.

Western Sydney has two building markets side by side: growth suburbs that were paddocks not long ago, and established suburbs full of houses ready for a rebuild or a second level. We map your pages to both.

  • Box Hill
  • Rouse Hill

  • Edmondson Park
  • Oran Park
  • Gregory Hills

Roughly arranged by location. Not to scale.

Growth suburbs

Box Hill, Marsden Park, Oran Park and their neighbours. Searches lean towards new homes, house and land, granny flats and duplexes, often tied to a named estate.

Established suburbs

Penrith, Kellyville, Baulkham Hills and older streets nearby. Searches lean towards knockdown rebuilds, second storeys, extensions and renovations.

A suburb page only works when it says something true about that suburb: a job you did there, the council it falls under, the usual block sizes and slopes. Pages that just swap the suburb name get ignored. Based out west? Our page on SEO in Penrith explains how we work locally.

09The plan

Twelve weeks to lock-up. Then we keep building.

The first twelve weeks lay the foundations. After that it's steady work, because builder SEO is a longer game than most trades. Your clients take longer to decide, so we plan in months.

Current stageFit-out

  1. 1Weeks 1 to 2

    Set-out

We check where you rank for each project type across your suburbs, what the top builders have that you don't, and what a client sees when they search your company name.

  2. 2Weeks 3 to 4

    Slab

Your Google Business Profile gets fixed: categories, services, service areas, licence details, a proper description and the first batch of project photos.

  3. 3Weeks 5 to 8

    Frame

Service pages for each project type, suburb pages with something real to say, and your first project pages, all linked together.

  4. 4Weeks 9 to 12

    Lock-up

Review requests that mention the build, listings on the directories homeowners use to find builders, and trust details on every page.

  5. 5Month 4 onward

    Fit-out

A new project page after each handover, a research guide most months on cost, land or timing, and a plain-English report on what moved.

Honest timing: a family that finds you in month three might not sign until month nine. We report rankings, calls and enquiries every month, but judge the work over a season, not a fortnight.

Builder SEO questions.

Builder SEO is the work that gets your building company found on Google by people planning a renovation, extension, granny flat or new home. It covers your Google Business Profile, project and suburb pages, trust signals like your licence and reviews, and content that answers the questions clients research for months before they call.

Show up across the whole research process, not just one search. Rank in the map pack for the project types you want, give every finished build its own page with real photos, collect reviews that name the project, and publish honest guides on cost, land and timing so the serious clients get in touch.

Early movement in rankings usually shows within a few months of the profile and pages being sorted. Because building clients take months to decide, enquiries often follow later than they would for an emergency trade. We treat builder SEO as a six to twelve month project and report on it every month.

Pick the one that matches the work you want most. "Home builder" suits new homes and knockdown rebuilds, "Builder" is a broad fit for renovations and extensions, and "Construction company" makes more sense if you also take on commercial jobs. Add extras such as "Custom home builder" or "Bathroom remodeler" only where they're a genuine part of the business.

It should be. NSW rules generally require a licence number in advertising for residential building work, and homeowners look for it before they sign anything. We put it in your footer, your profile and your project pages. This is general information, not legal advice, so check with NSW Fair Trading or the Building Commission NSW.

It can. Pages that talk openly about price bands, block requirements and build times attract people who are already serious, and they put off anyone hoping for a bargain or free plans. You'll usually see fewer vague enquiries and more from people who know roughly what they want.

They do different jobs. Google Ads puts you in front of people the day it's switched on, and stops when you stop paying. SEO builds the rankings, reviews and project pages that clients keep finding while they compare you over months. Plenty of builders run both. Our Google Ads for builders page explains the paid side.

Yes. Project builder buyers search by design, estate and price, so they need a page for each design and estate. Custom builder and renovation clients search by project type and suburb, then dig into your past work, so detailed project pages and a clear build process matter more.

We're based in Western Sydney and work with builders across Sydney, especially around Penrith, the Hills District and the growth areas in the north west and south west, such as Box Hill, Kellyville, Marsden Park and Oran Park. You choose the suburbs and project types, and we build towards those.

It depends on how many suburbs and project types you want to target and how strong the local competition is. Start with the free video review: it shows where you stand and what needs fixing first. If you'd like us to do the work, we'll send a quote after that.

Barely anything. You just do what you do best: Turn phone calls into customers.
