At a glance

  • Sydney pressure cleaning business that wanted to show up on the first page of Google.
  • The brief was specific: get into the top 10.
  • Average ranking of about 9 in roughly a month, faster than expected.
  • The competition was weaker than it looked, which is common in local service trades.

The business

WeFlow Pressure Cleaning cleans driveways, paths, walls and outdoor areas for homes and businesses around Sydney. It's a trade where people search, compare a few results and call. If you're not on the first page, you're not in the running.

The brief

WeFlow came to us with a clear, measurable goal: get into Google's top 10. Not a vague promise of "more visibility". A specific position on a specific page, which is exactly how a brief should be written.

What we did

The first step was the same as always: look at who was already ranking and how strong they really were. That's where the surprise came. On paper the search looked crowded. In practice, the businesses ranking for it were weaker than expected, with average positions that left plenty of room to move.

From there we worked through the early steps of our local SEO process, the ones that tend to move rankings first. If you want to see what those steps are, they're laid out in our guide to ranking higher on Google Maps.

The results

Within about a month, WeFlow reached an average ranking of about 9: the first page of Google, and the brief delivered. It didn't take a huge amount of time, and there were still plenty of tactics we hadn't used, because the job was the top 10 and we'd hit it.

The real lesson

Unless you're in an extremely competitive market, getting into Google's top 10 is achievable. Most local businesses simply don't know how to, or never get around to doing it properly. That's good news, because it means the gap between you and the first page is often smaller than it looks.

The top 10 is the start, not the finish line. The top 3 is where most calls go, and that's where longer-term work like we did for Design Timber Flooring comes in. If you're in Western Sydney, here's how we handle SEO in Penrith and nearby suburbs, or see all our case studies.

FAQ

Questions about this case study.

What people ask us about this result.

It depends on your trade, your area and how strong the businesses above you are. WeFlow Pressure Cleaning reached an average ranking of about 9 in roughly a month, but busier categories can take several months.

It gets you onto the first page, which is where most people look. The top 3 gets the most calls, so for most businesses the top 10 is a milestone on the way there.

The businesses already ranking were weaker than the search looked, so there was room to move. That's common in local service trades.
